Earth and Sun and Moon

Reviewed by Rolling Stone Magazine

Ecowarriors, class strugglers and top-flight musicians, Australia's Midnight Oil have fused politics and song with more unflagging fervor than anyone since the Clash. "Earth and Sun and Moon" resumes the good fight. As always, Jim Moginie and Martin Rotsey flash the fury of one of the great guitar duos in rock, and frontman Peter Garrett strikes again as the aural equivalent of a raised fist. "Drums of Heaven," "My Country" and "Outbreak of Love" convey the band's tense mix of cynicism and hope endash and the entire album steams with energy. This isn't the Oils' best endash but it's pretty terrific.
